Deltas are threatened by coastal and riverine floods. Moreover, other water management issues also need to be taken into account in deltas, such as the water supply and navigation maintenance. As one of the most advanced real-time control methodologies, Model Predictive Control (MPC) is introduced, in order to realize the adaptive delta management. In this study, we show the way to apply MPC to general delta management problems, including flood prevention, water supply, navigation and drought management.
