Occurrence of local scour around bridge piers is one of the main reasons for failure of bridges. The scour process is time variant and reaches to maximum scour depth in equilibrium condition. Understanding this process and estimating the evolution of scour hole are important for bridge pier design. Bed sill can be used as a countermeasure against local scour around bridge piers. Looking at literatures show that all of the available relations for estimating the temporal scour evolution were obtained for single pier, therefore in this study temporal evolution of scour around side-by-side piers with different position of the bed sill is investigated experimentally. The results show that by using bed sill in upstream and downstream of the piers the scour depth reduced about 63%.
