In this paper, methods and software tools for GIS-based planning and decision-support in Integrated Water Resources Management are presented. The approach results from the project “Integrated Water Resources Management in the Pilot Region Middle Olifants River, South Africa". The developed tools facilitate getting an overview on quaternary catchment level in order to identify hot-spot areas with increased problem intensity regarding water quality and with a priority call for action.
