Capital dredging works undertaken in the sensitive environment of Southampton Water were carried out following the principles of Building with Nature. For the project at hand this implied an innovative adaptive management strategy based on the actual ecological and hydrodynamic environment and using state-of-the-art real-time water quality monitoring. This resulted in the dredging works being able to continue 24/7 year round without environmental impacts.
