The development of shipping directly pushes the transformation of ship lock in inland river navigation-power junction from single line to multi-line. Because of the restricting factors such as the position of existing project and reserved space, land requisition and demolishing, project investment and construction difficulty, the difficulties of the plane layout design for expansion ship lock and the location selection of axis in second-line ship lock are increased. Based on the expansion project of second-line ship lock in Zhuzhou Navigation-power Junction, the general layout scheme of expansion ship lock was researched by using a three-dimensional numerical flow model and the integral hydraulic model combining with a remote-control self-propelled ship model. The influences of the axis position of expansion ship lock and the approach channel forms on the navigation flow condition at the entrance of ship lock and the berthing condition in approach channel during lock filling and emptying were expounded, and then the influence rule was summarized. Meanwhile, some principles which should be followed in general layout design of expansion project of second-line ship lock in inland river navigation-power junction were obtained in combination with plane arrangement characteristics of expansion ship lock in other Chinese pivotal projects.
