Groyne which is one of eco-friendly river structures has been applied with great interest because attention of river environment has increased and nature river improvement techniques have been required for aquatic ecosystem restoration. Analysis for continuously variable flow characteristics around the groyne is necessary to consider eco-friendly facility like a fish habitat and shelter by installed groyne. However previous studies about continuously variable flow characteristics around groyne, therefore quantitative analysis is required. Especially, groyne filed of group groynes are used for fish habitat under normal water level condition and fish shelter under flood water level. it is necessary to review continuous flow characteristics variation for vortex. Thus, the objectives of this study are to analyze depthwise plane velocity distribution around group groynes using PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry) in continuous flow and review quantitatively aspect of vortex generation. Depthwise plan velocity distributions have been measured with variance of groyne spacing. Time series analysis of flow characteristic have been conducted to review the number of generating vortex, aspect of generating vortex and frequency of generating vortex. The results in this study have not been set up to determine in existing research results so that it is expected to be used in designing the groyne as a significant material. Also, If vertical velocity distribution would be considered with the results of this study, it can be used in basic data about various flow characteristics.
