Water flow that entering into submerged intakes may combined with some air core depending on the flow discharge and water depth. Several researchers have been studied vertical and horizontal intake direction. This paper presents critical submerged depth for two types of vortices under different intake angles for side-wall intake cases in a laboratory flume. All six types of vortices were observed during the laboratory tests. It was seen that by increasing the intake angle in the positive trigonometric direction, the critical submerged depth is almost constant for vortex type 6 and it is reduced for vortex type 3.
