Recent field measurement on flow dynamics seems to be geo-referenced. ADCPs equipped with precise GPS are such devices that give flow distribution data on the real rivers. However, they have limitations probably because they are not so capable in severe flow condition like flood. This study provides devices more convenient and easily usable. A wirelss communicable GPS rovers are provided with a portable base station composed of RF receivers of three different frequencies. Using this system, we could obtain the flow field along the river channel during the low and high flow conditions. Location and time data were gained to be converted to get velocity data. After grid-based interpolation, two-dimensional flow field of the rivers were given. Possible application is addressed.
