Nowadays, although the continual growth of human societies against narrow resources has resulted in developing the urban infrastructures, it also makes necessary to preserve the lifelines such as water distribution systems. Therefore, protection of these system instruments is among the necessary issues in water companies. Rehabilitation of water pipes is a major part of water distribution system operations, so that significant investment is accomplished annually for this. In this regard, it is necessary to make planning and programs on basis of the importance of sectors of water pipes in terms of different factors and determining the optimized rehabilitation strategy for water distribution systems. The purpose of this research is prescribing how to decide to prioritize water pipes for rehabilitation strategies, based on their importance in hydraulic and mechanical and non-technical factors, using a decision model. Intuitively all model criteria are described based on their operational limitation and affecting measure of each criteria is determinant for water pipelines prioritization. The results of this model show that it indicates appropriate performance in prioritization of pipes for water distribution system rehabilitation.
