Dr. Christopher George is Executive Director of the International Association for HydroEnvironment Engineering and Research (IAHR) based in Madrid, Spain. Dr. George was born in the UK, graduating from Newcastle University in Civil Engineering in 1973. He completed work on a PhD in Hydraulic Engineering at the University of Cambridge, UK in 1976 – and as a student member of IAHR at that time, he published his first paper in the Journal of Hydraulic Research on "oscillatory boundary layer flow" . Dr. George has over thirty years of experience of global water problems related to civil engineering. Since 1999 he has been involved in association management as Executive Director of IAHR working closely with universities and industry around the world to develop the civil engineering water community. During this time IAHR, has relocated it's headquarters from the Netherlands to Spain and more recently has opened a second headquarters in China.
